Colour on Colour

Overlander had a Photography Competition – One week the Theme was Colour on Colour. So, I took a photo of a thin slice of Kiwifruit on a green background (the cover of my Webber BBQ)

Honda FT500 ‘Ascot’

My new 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot. I’ve re covered the seat, painted the tank Delicious Red using a can of Kill rust red. I’ve installed a new (yes New!) starter gear and rebuilt the engine. Its looking good and only needs a pair of tyres and new rear master cylinder (well, I need to sleeve the current one as its leaking)

Blue-point 12mm Flex head ratcheting Spanner / Wrench

BOERMF13A Wrench, Metric, Flex Head Ratcheting Box / Open End, Standard, 12° Offset, 13mm, 12-Point The Bluepoint Flexi head ratcheting spanner / wrench. Its a great bit of kit, works well and much cheaper than the Snapon ratchet spanners, but the ratcheting mechanism is n.

The Ratcheting mechanism isn’t as fine as the Snap on branded wrenches, meaning they don’t quite work as well in tight areas where a finer mechanism is handy. The Flexi head assists in the hard to get at areas by allowing the wrench to flex and bend. Its worth buying a set for the price as the flexi head are handy when no other wrench / socket will get into those hard to reach areas. Available in both Imperial and Metric and in Standard and Stubby lengths. Available in Australia through your Local Snap on Dealer or online from Snapon.com/au

Silverside

Soak a corned silverside for 30 mins in fresh water – repeat a couple of times (i usually defrost in a pot of cold water overnight)

Cover the silverside with water, add a cup of vinegar (Malt, White, Cider or Balsamic all vary the flavour, try a different one each time)

add 1/2 cup of sugar (I prefer Brown for extra flavour)

add a half a dozen peppercorns

add a few bay leaves

add 3 roughly chopped carrot

add a chopped onion

add a few sticks of celery chopped

add a tablespoon of Keens Mustard powder

simmer for a few hours or cook in a slow cooker.

Enjoy with mashed potato, peas and Mustard Sauce.
