Sliming OSX Snow Leopard

This is a post to self. As I plan to trim the fresh install of my OSX Snow Leopard on my Dell Mini 9.

Apps to trashing AppZapper:

DVD player
Frontrow
PhotoBooth
Chess
Stickies
Dictionary
System, Library, Speech, Speech Voices, and remove all of the folders there except Fred
Utilities: Midi stuff, Bootcamp, obdc, raid, color management

Oh…  and languages…. and Printer Drivers

http://www,mydellmini/forum/ is a great resource though.

Shuttersnitch.

I often find cool Ipad / iPhone apps and think, I must buy that. Then I forget the name. Shuttersnitch when coupled with a wireless transmitting SDCard  from Eye-Fi means most Digital Camera’s can wirelessly shoot photos and send the result directly to my iPhone or iPad for viewing. Which helps as photos look much better on the iPad than the tiny little screen on the camera.

As with most people, if only they made a Compact Flash version :( Or I could afford

Invisible Shield

I just picked up a bunch of invisible shields for a few of my portable devices, namely my iphone, ipod and psp. They were a right royal PITA to fit but, if you take your time, the results are fantastic. my iPod Gen 2 Nano fit perfectly, works great and gives the ipod a nice rubbery feel whilst protecting it. Nice. The iPhone was also great, well protected although i don’t like the corners. The PSP was a let down, its quite fiddly to fit and i wasn’t overly impressed with the outcome, but its better than a banged up scratched PSP. Overall, not bad.

Remove the annoying Call Diverted message from the iPhone

I had the anoying message popping up when i made a call saying “Calls Diverted” which was really annoying. removal was a simple GOOGLE away. In the Installer, I added the source http://www.sendovski.de/iphone/ Then I installed the app, ForwardMSGFix which worked flawlessly.

Apple iPhone

2 Iphones, all packaged ready for pick up.
Ben brought a couple back from his overseas trip and Carly and I decided we both wanted one (I wanted one REAL badly and Carly needed a new phone). We picked them up, connected to our respective macs, ran the 1.1.4 update and ziPhone “Do it All” to unlock them. Once done, we installed the various apps etc.  It is just too easy, and the phone itself is just too cool. The browser is the best browser I have used on a device smaller than a laptop, and I have been using handheld / palm pc’s since my HP Jornada 680e back in 1999. That was terrible on the net using my old Ericsson T28 with Infrared modem. It is also a million times better than my Jasjam which was a terrible phone.
